Sara Sosnowy

American painter, born 1957

BiographySara Sosnowy was born in 1957 in Texas City, Texas and received her undergraduate degree from Stephen F. Austin University and her master of fine arts degree from Pratt Institute. The artist is best known for her abstract geometric paintings that recall the Pattern and Decoration movement of the 1970s. Sosnowy began exhibiting in New York in the late 1980s, and she has received grants and awards from the Fifth Floor Foundation, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, and the Drawing Center in New York. Sosnowy's work is included in numerous corporate and public collections including the Delaware Art Museum, the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard University, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, among many others.
