BiographyThrough pairings of images and text, jc lenochan examines what he refers to as the “social condition as it relates to identity, race, and class.” Lenochan received his undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1993 and his master of fine arts degree from Rutgers University in 1996. The artist has been exhibiting in solo and group exhibitions since the mid-1990s and has received grants and awards from the Pollock Krasner Foundation, the Geraldine Dodge Foundation, and the Franklin Furnace Fund, among others. Lenochan has taught at the Newark Arts High School since 2007, and his work is included in numerous public and private collections including the Delaware Art Museum, the Amos Foundation Collection, and the Atlanta Arts Association Foundation.
