Hunt SlonemAmerican painter, born 1951
Best known for his large, neo-expressionist paintings of birds, butterflies, and rabbits, Hunt Slonem received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University and studied painting at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and Vanderbilt University. Slonem has lived and worked in New York since 1973, and his paintings are included in the public collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among many others. The artist has received numerous awards and grants—from the Greenshields Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts—and his work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, among others.
