Nancy Haynes was born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1947 and moved to New York in 1967. Haynes began exhibiting in New York in the late 1970s and her work has since been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions and included in group surveys of abstract drawings, painting, and printmaking. The artist has received several grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, and in 1995, she was the recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Haynes has held posts as a visiting artist and lecturer at colleges and universities throughout the United States including Hunter College, Ohio State University, and Princeton University. Her work is included in the public collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Denver Art Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, among others.
