Hadi Tabatabai

American painter and draftsman, born 1964 in Iran
BiographyHadi Tabatabai was born in Mashhad, Iran in 1964 and immigrated to the United States in 1977. The artist received an undergraduate degree in industrial design from California State University Fresno in 1985 and a bachelor of fine arts degree in paintings from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1995. Tabatabai is the recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and has served as an artist in residence at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley and the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito. The artist's subtle, grid-based abstractions are included in numerous corporate, private, and public collections including the Delaware Art Museum and the Achenbach Foundation at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
