BiographyJerry Ballaine studied at the University of Washington and Art Center School in Los Angeles before obtaining his bachelor's degree from California School of Fine arts in 1960 and his master's degree from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1961. He taught at the University of California at Berkeley from 1965 through 1994 and served as interim Museum Director there from 1975–1976. The artist began exhibiting at the Zabriskie Gallery in New York in 1960 and since then has had numerous solo exhibitions through the United States and abroad. Ballaine's work is in the public collections of the Denver Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, among others.
