Donna Ferrato
American photographer, born 1949
She is perhaps best known for her book Living with the Enemy which documents domestic abuse in the 1980s. It has been reprinted four times and sold more than 40,000 copies. She is an activist in this arena as well as a documentarian. Her recent series I Am Unbeatable focuses on women who have left their abusers. Ferrato has not spent her entire career documenting domestic abuse. In recent years her images of her quickly changing New York neighborhood, Tribeca, have been exhibited internationally.
