BiographyNorinne Betjemann was born in 1959 and received her bachelor's degree from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia in 1981 and a master's in education from the University of London, Goldsmiths College in 1997. Betjemann began as a freelance commercial photographer in Philadelphia and has lectured at Fleisher Art memorial, University of the Arts, and Whitechapel Art Gallery. She served as Director of Education and Learning for Arts Council England. She has exhibited through the United States and abroad, and her photographs are in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Delaware Art Museum, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania in addition to numerous corporate collections. Betjemann's early work was manipulated, silver-based photographs while her recent photographs are digitally-based. Her images of architecture, the natural environment, and everyday objects convey a sense of mystery and magic, two concepts that interest the artist.
