Sonya ClarkAmerican artist, born 1967

Sonya Clark is Professor of Art at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. Previously, she was a Distinguished Research Fellow in the School of the Arts and Commonwealth Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University where she served as chair of the Craft/Material Studies Department from 2006 until 2017. She has exhibited her work nationally at the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC, and internationally. She received her graduate degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and has received numerous honors and awards.

Clark uses a variety of materials for her sculptures such as combs, beads, and human hair.
