Clayton Bailey

American ceramicist and sculptor, born 1939
BiographyClayton Bailey was born in Antigo, Wisconsin and received his undergraduate degree and master's degree in art and art education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Bailey taught extensively, first at Wisconsin State University and later from 1968 until 1996 at California State University, East Bay. The artist has been recognized for his imaginative ceramic sculptures with honors and grants from the American Craft Council, the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, the National Council of Education in Ceramic Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Bailey's work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and the artist has displayed his work in the Bailey Art Museum in Crockett, California.
