John Patrick Gillborn 1949

Born in Renton, Washington, John Patrick Gill (also known as John Gill) is a ceramicist and professor of ceramics at Alfred University. Gill studied under Thorne Edwards and Patti Warashina at the Cornish School of Art in Seattle and holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the Kansas City Art Institute—where he studied under Ken Ferguson, Jackie Rice, and Victor Babu—and a master of fine arts degree from Alfred University. Gill is the recipient of awards and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council and has previously taught at the Rhode Island School of Design, Kent State University, and Colorado State University at Fort Collins. His works are in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Delaware Art Museum, and the Brooklyn Museum, among others.
