Alyson Shotz

American artist, born 1964
BiographyAlyson Shotz received her undergraduate degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and her master of fine arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. The artist is best known for her immersive, minimalist installations that investigate space, perception, and natural surroundings. Her work is permanently installed in the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, on the campus of Stanford University, and in Brooklyn as part of the MTA Arts for Transit program. Shotz began exhibiting in the mid-1990s, and her work has been the subject of solo exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, among many others. Her work is included in major public and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad.
