Diane Burko

American painter, born 1945
BiographyDiane Burko was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1945 and currently lives and works in Philadelphia. She received her undergraduate degree in 1966 from Skidmore College and her master of fine arts degree in 1969 from the University of Pennsylvania. Burko was a professor at the Community College of Philadelphia from 1969 through 2000 in addition to teaching at Princeton University and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. The artist's painting and photography practice investigates the effects of climate change and melting glaciers. Burko has received numerous awards and commissions, and her work is included in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Hood Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others.
