Robert LazzariniAmerican artist and sculptor, born 1965

Robert Lazzarini investigates the very nature of sculpture and the complexity of representation. The artist has long been interested in violence, mortality, memory, and the human psyche. Objects associated with these themes serve as his subject matter. Lazzarini’s use of compound mathematical distortions in creating the works of art ensures our utter inability to resolve the sculptures we encounter. This unique viewing experience creates a noticeable discord in our understanding of vision and recognition.

Following studies at the Parsons School of Design, Robert Lazzarini received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York. His work has been included in group exhibitions in institutions throughout the United States and abroad, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Brooklyn Museum, and a solo show of his work was held at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth in 2011.
