BiographyPeter Hurd was born Harold Hurd, Jr. in Roswell, New Mexico. His parents nicknamed him "Pete" and he eventually changed his name to Peter. Hurd studied under N. C. Wyeth and worked as his assistant in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Hurd married Wyeth's daughter Henriette. Hurd worked as a war correspondent for Life magazine during World War II. He painted murals, portraits, and landscape paintings, and released an album Spanish Folk Songs of New Mexico.
