Mary Page Evans
BiographyBorn in Norfolk, Virginia in 1937, Mary Page Evans received her training at Hollins University, the Art Students League in New York, and Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. Evans is influenced by her studies of Paul Cezanne and Hans Hoffman as well as her time spent studying with Gene Davis, Joan Mitchell, and Tom Bostelle. Primarily a landscape painter, the artist works directly from nature, capturing the rolling hills of Virginia, the flat expanses of southern Delaware, and the changing sky over the ocean. Her work is included in the publication collections of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the State Museum of Pennsylvania, among others, and in 2012, the Delaware Art Museum hosted a major retrospective with an accompanying publication.
