Mary Ellen Mark

Born in Philadelphia, Mark received her BFA and a Masters in Photojournalism from the University of Pennsylvania. She is best known for her socially conscious photojournalism and her documentary book projects, though she has also produced photo-essays, portraits, and fashion photographs for publications including The New Yorker, LIFE, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair.
