William Meyerowitz

American painter and printmaker, 1887–1981
BiographyBorn in Russia, painter and etcher William Meyerowitz came to the United States in 1908 and studied at the National Academy of Design in New York. He was produced well-regarded portraits and modernist interpretations of the city and was a pioneer of color etching techniques. He was married to artist Theresa Bernstein and they spent summers in Gloucester, Massachusetss. He taught at the Settlement House in New York.
