Ted WeissingerAmerican executive and sculptor, 1910–1980
Ted Weissinger followed up a decades-long career as a DuPont executive by establishing a second vocation as a sculptor. In the wake of a cancer diagnosis, Weissinger spent the final eight years of his life creating abstract wooden sculptures he saw as “a communication,” with the undefined forms allowing for a “variety of possible interpretations.” A fixture of Wilmington city life, he received prizes from the Delaware Art Museum and the Ware Gallery in Ardentown; his studio/home was located at 630 Shipley Road.
