John T. Fix

American sculptor, 1941–2011
BiographyBorn in Mayfield, Kentucky, John T. Fix earned degrees in sculpture and metalsmithing from Ohio State University and the Cranbrook Academy of Art, where he studied under Richard Thomas. He taught at Towson State University and was the head of the Jewelry/Metals department for over three decades. He was also active in Cincinnati during his career and received the Buckeye Federal Savings and Loan Award in 1966. Fix was a member of the Society of American Silversmiths and took part in the traveling exhibition Artisans in Silver: Judaica Today, which comprised interpretations of Jewish silver ritual objects from artists of different religious backgrounds.
