BiographyKate Joyce (Katie) Harris (1878-1949) was born in Roade, Northampton, and the eldest of four children. She studied in London at the Royal College of Art on a scholarship. She designed for the silversmiths William Hutton & Sons, beginning in 1898. In 1902 she married Swedish jeweler and silversmith Karl Karlsson. She designed a number of works in silver with enamel, which appeared with her husband's maker's mark between 1903-1905. She continued to design for commercial firms in addition to exhibiting her paintings.
