Cecilia Adams
BiographyAlmost nothing is known of Cecilia Adams' life. She was born in 1876. Her father was an architect, Maurice B. Adams. Her work first appears in the catalogues of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society in 1906. Caroline M. Hannah (Waking Dreams) surmises Adams may have trained with architect and jewelry maker Henry Wilson (1864-1934) based on the close stylistic affinity of their work. In 1914 when a "mature" student at Camberwell in South London, she won a Book Prize in the National Competition with an enamel work, the first of her pieces in this media. By 1916 she was working with J.H.M. Bonnor and Edward Spencer, both members of the Artificer's Guild.
