Sol WilsonAmerican painter, 1896–1974
Born in Vilno, Russia (now in Poland), Wilson came to New York City with his family as a boy. He spent most of his career in New York, but traveled in summers to Rockport, Maine, and later Provincetown, Massachusetts, where he painted the pictures of docks, beaches, and boats for which he is best known. He produced murals for the W.P.A. and taught at the Art Students League.
