Label TextLike Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Frederick Shields was a great admirer of the work of William Blake. This image of the interior of Blake’s house at Fountain Court in Central London appeared in the second edition of Alexander Gilchrist’s Life of William Blake published in 1880. This scene, one of five versions in existence today, inspired Rossetti to compose a sonnet on the subject.Frederic James Shields
