Robert Brackman

American painter, 1898–1980
BiographyBorn in Odessa, Russia (now Ukraine), Brackman is best known as a painter of figures, still lifes, and portraits, often in combination. Brackman moved to the United States in 1908. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York and the Ferrer School in San Francisco. Starting in 1931, he was an instructor for many years at the Art Students League in New York. Brackman painted portraits of many famous individuals, including the Rockefellers, Charles Lindbergh, and John Foster Dulles, as well as members of the du Pont family in Delaware.
