Charles Wells

American sculptor and printmaker, born 1935
BiographyBorn in New York City, Wells intended to be a writer and took up visual art to supplement his income. Around 1961, he discovered the work of Leonard Baskin and decided to study with him. He followed in Baskin's footsteps, producing both prints and sculptures with a strong humanist bent.
