Sigrid Meier

American fiber artist, born 1933
BiographyOriginally from Switzerland, textile artist Sigrid Meier studied design at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts) under Edna Andrade, as well as at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. She has taught at the Community Arts Center of Nether Providence, Pennsylvania, the University of the Arts, and the Delaware Art Museum. Known for her use of vivid color in her weavings, she is a member of the Philadelphia Council of Professional Craftsmen and has numerous awards, including the Katherine Wellman Award and first prize in the textiles category at the Philadelphia 1970 Craftsmen exhibition.
