Morag Benepe (also known as Sharifa Benepe) is a Scottish artist known for her work in textiles and paper that blur the lines between sculpture and craft. She specializes in the Javanese Batik tradition, which uses wax in the process of dyeing cloth. She is highly concerned with creating ecologically friendly art, and also is known for her work in ceramics and murals. Benepe studied at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland has taught at Scripps College in Claremont, California, King's College of Durham University in England, and at the Rockland Center for the Arts in New York, among other institutions.
