Jack Lenor Larsen

Jack Lenor Larsen is known for his modernist textile designs. Originally an architecture student from Seattle, Washington, Larsen began working in fabric in 1946 and earned a graduate degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art. After moving to New York, Larsen established his own firm, Jack Lenor Larsen, Inc., which produced textiles for clients from Marilyn Monroe to Pan American Airlines. He is considered to have introduced ikat and batik techniques to the American public. His work has been exhibited in the Louvre Museum, and he has produced several publications on textiles. Larsen is a recipient of awards from the Smithsonian Archives of American Art, the American Crafts Museum, and the Cranbrook Academy of Art.
