Gary T. Erbe

American painter, born 1944
BiographyGary T. Erbe (born 1944) is an American oil painter and self-taught trompe-l'œil artist. He first started his career working at an engraving company as an apprentice and painting in his spare time. Inspired by artists such as John F. Peto and William Michael Harnett, Erbe explored a contemporary method called Levitational Realism where objects in his paintings would appear to be floating.

Erbe's work has been exhibited institutions such as Canton Museum of Art, the Brinton Museum, the Hecksher Museum of Art, and the Baum School of Art.
