Andreas Feininger

American photographer, 1906–1999
BiographySon of the American painter and Bauhaus educator Lyonel Feininger, Andreas was trained as an architect in Germany before moving to Sweden to focus on photography in 1936. In advance of World War I, Feininger moved to the United States where he made his name as a freelance photographer. In 1943 he began to work for Life magazine, an association that would continue until 1962.
