BiographyCurrier and Ives was an American printmaking firm. Headquartered in New York, the firm was run by Nathaniel Currier (1813–1888) and James Merritt Ives (1824–1895). They sold inexpensive lithographs for a wide audience, and their subjects ranged from newsworthy events to sporting scenes to portraits. Over the firm's long life they printed over 7,500 lithographs.
