Antonia Contro

American artist and educator, born 1957
BiographyAntonia Contro received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, a certificate in art education from the Art Institute of Chicago, and her master of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois-Chicago. She currently lives and works in Chicago where she is the Executive Director at Marwen, a visual arts education space dedicated to supporting Chicago's youth. Contro's practice is informed by her interest in the nature of knowledge and the categorization and sharing of information. Her work has been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale, and is included in the collections of the Fogg Art Museum, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and the New York Public Library, among others.
