BiographyTom Baril graduated with a bachelor's degree in photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1980, and spent 15 years as Robert Mapplethorpe's master printer. His own images focus on the built environment, flowers, landscape and still life, and the resulting, velvety photographs capture the detail and texture of his subject matter. Baril's work is included in numerous public and private collections such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the George Eastman House, among others.
