Barbara Latham

American artist, 1896–1988
BiographyBest known for her scenes of the American Southwest, Latham grew up in New England. She studied art at the Norwich (Connecticut) Academy and at the Pratt Institute in New York. She then studied with Andrew Dasburg at the League's summer school in Woodstock. She started her career as a commercial artist, designing greeting cards, and she would eventually illustrate children's books. In 1926, she traveled to Taos, New Mexico, where she met and married artist Howard Cook.
