Jack Lewis

American artist, 1912–2012
BiographyBorn in Baltimore, Maryland, Lewis moved to Delaware in the 1930s and remained in the state, living in Bridgeville, for 40 years. He is best known for paintings of southern Delaware, including Lewes beach. He completed a master's degree in education at Rutgers University and taught for many years, eventually becoming president of the Delaware Federation of Teachers. He published several books featuring his watercolors. Lewis exhibited regularly in the Delaware Shows--the annual exhibitions of the Wilmington Society of Fine Arts--in mid-20th century.
