Eugenie Fish Glaman

American artist, 1872–1956
BiographyBorn in St. Joseph, Missouri and raised in Kansas, Glaman is best known for depicting animals. She grew up around sheep and cattle and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago in the 1890s. She traveled to Paris to further her education, studying drawing with noted animal sculptor Fremiet and painting with Lawton Parker. She continued on to London where she joined Frank Calderon's school for animal painting. She returned to Chicago where she regularly visited the stockyards to observe animals.
