Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin

British painter and printmaker, 1870–1935
BiographyAldin studied animal anatomy at the South Kensington School of Art, and later worked under the animal painter Frank Calderon. He achieved early success as a comic illustrator, contributing to numerous periodicals, including the Illustrated London News, during the 1890s and designing posters. He illustrated many children's books and specialized in delicately shaded drawings of country inns, cheerful old world scenes, and canine subjects, particularly dog portraits.
