BiographyNew Jersey native T. Eric Monroe offers a vivid look at the 90s hip-hop scene, a genre that influenced culture and social justice. His photography, developed while skateboarding through New York City, captures the raw, street-smart energy of 90s Hip Hop. Monroe's career began in 1988 when Thrasher magazine recognized his work, and by the early 90s, he was known for photographing hip-hop legends like Tupac Shakur, Nas, and Erykah Badu. His powerful images have been included in The Source magazine, where he served as photo editor beginning in 1995. Monroe's trilogy, Rare and Unseen Moments of 90s Hip-Hop, has been celebrated as an essential document of hip-hop culture, and the photographer shares those images and stories at public appearances worldwide.
