Richard Francisco

American painter, born 1942
BiographyAfter graduating from high school in Napa Valley, California, Richard Francisco worked for a year to earn enough money to travel through Europe. He spent more than a year trekking through Europe and the Middle East and shared a studio with Dutch art historian Ernst van de Wetering in Amsterdam, before settling in New York in the late 1960s. In 1973 he had his first solo show at Betty Parsons Gallery. Since then, he has shown regularly in Europe and the United States, and was included in the 1981 Whitney Biennial. In 2007, a solo exhibition of his work was held in the Rogaland Museum of Fine Arts in Norway.
