Label TextThis was a sketch for a mural painted for the George Gray School in Wilmington, depicting the arrival at Fort Christina of Johan Printz, the governor of New Sweden from 1643 to 1653. The scene was also used as the central design for a commemorative postage stamp in 1938, celebrating the three-hundredth anniversary of the first Swedish and Finnish settlements in America.
