Label TextGeorge Howard was an amateur painter closely aligned with members of the Pre-Raphaelite circle including William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. His landscapes were significantly influenced by the Italian “Etruscans” a group of painters under the guidance of Giovanni Costa. Although the Howard's traveled to Italy often, this view may document a holiday in winter 1877 when George and his wife Rosalind were joined by Jane Morris and her two daughter, May and Jenny.
