BiographyWilliam Forsyth was an American impressionist artist and part of the "Hoosier Group" of Indiana painters. After study at the Indiana School of Art, Forsyth entered the Munich Academy. In the 1880s he returned to Indianapolis and helped found the Herron School of Art, where he taught until 1933. Forsyth's work is best represented at museums in his home state, including the Haan Mansion Museum of Indiana Art, Indiana State Museum, and Indianapolis Museum of Art.
