BiographyRobert Arneson is one of the most celebrated ceramic sculptors of the 20th century. He studied at what is now California College of the Arts and was the head of the ceramics department at UC Davis for three decades. The artist was a central figure in the California Funk Art Movement, using clay to create sculptures of everyday objects. Arneson embraced humor and sarcasm as a response to the seriousness of the Abstract Expressionist painters.
