BiographyAfter his childhood in Iowa, "Ding" Darling was a political cartoonist who was also known for his wildlife and sporting drawings. He began his career on the Sioux City Journal, soon moved to the Des Moines Register, and then took a national syndication agreement with the New York Tribune (later the New York Herald) which placed his cartoons in over 130 newspapers American newspapers. He worked from his Iowa studio. His acute political satire won him two Pulitzer prizes.
