Allen Tucker

American painter, 1866–1939
BiographyNew York painter Allen Tucker graduated from Columbia University with a degree in architecture and worked as an architectural draftsman while studying at the Art Students League with the American Impressionist painter John Twachtman. In the early 1900s, Tucker exhibited alongside Robert Henri, Maurice Prendergast, and other members of The Eight. He was involved with various independent exhibitions in the early 20th century, including the 1913 Armory Show and the Society of Independent Artists. After service in World War I, he taught at the Art Students League in the 1920s.
