Jack Youngerman

American painter, printmaker, 1926–2020
BiographyJack Youngerman was born in 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended the University of Missouri and the University of North Carolina. He lived and studied in Paris from 1947 to 1955, attending the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and exhibiting at Galerie Arnaud and Galerie Lawrence early in his career. In 1956, Youngerman returned to the United States where he established a relationship with Betty Parsons Gallery, showing there throughout the 1960s. In the 1970s, the artist exhibited with Pace Gallery in New York, and joined Washburn Gallery in New York in 1981. Youngerman was best known for his geometric constructions and painting.
