Alice Harold Murphy

American painter, 1896–1966
BiographyAlice Harold Murphy, a printmaker and painter, was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on September 26, 1896. She studied at Parsons School of Design, The Art Students League, and the National Academy of Design. She was a member of the Society of American Etchers (today known as SAGA), Boston Printmakers, Audubon Artists, Knickerbocker Artists and was an associate at the National Academy of Design. She received numerous awards during her long career, and her work is in many institutional collections including the New York Public Library, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Library of Congress.
