A Provincetown artist and art instructor, Maynard graduated from Norwich (CT) Free Academy and Norwich Art School. She then studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and was one of the three originators of the Boston Printmakers. She married artist William Maynard, who she met in art school in Boston. An accomplished artist in many mediums, she worked in a variety of styles from abstraction to realism. She taught at Chamberlayne Junior College, where she served as head of the Fine Art Department, the New England School of Art and Design, and the Cape Cod Conservatory. She was the originator and director of the Cronin Gallery and worked in the Casa Del Sol tutoring program for children in Boston's South End. She also taught at the AK Cross Art School.
Maynard's artwork was exhibited throughout the country, at museums including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Whitney Museum in New York, Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., Chicago Art Institute, Philadelphia Art Museum, and Provincetown Art Association and Museum. Her work is in numerous public and private collections including Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris.
