Aline Fruhauf

American printmaker, draftsman, and cartoonist, 1907–1978
BiographyBest known for her caricatures of artists and cultural figures, Fruhauf started her career publishing in the New York newspapers while still a student at Parsons School of Design. She started taking classes at the Art Students League in 1930. Later in the thirties, she joined the graphics division of the WPA where she produced caricatures of artists that worked for the WPA.

She married Dr. Edwin Vollmer and relocated to Bethesda and made caricatures of musicians for the Washington Star.
